SETEC wins R&D Start Grant

April 2005

SETEC Pty Ltd has been awarded funding to the value of $483,192 by the Australian Government’s R&D Start Program. This funding will contribute to thedevelopment and commercialisation of a fixed frequency resonant power converter.
Considerably smaller than existing technology, this new power converter will offer high efficiency and extremely low electromagnetic emissions (EMC), resulting in a reduction in size and improved manufacturability over their variable frequency predecessor.

“This grant is evidence of SETEC’s capability to innovate and excel in the provision of high quality, innovative and cost effective custom designed power solutions,” said Louise Lloyd, Managing Director.  “We will be incorporating this development into many of our products, as the smaller size enables us to provide vital space savings.  This will be combined with superior performance and cost savings for our customers.”

Due to the increased demand for low input voltage applications and DC-DC converters, this new technology will be particularly suited to the Scientific/Medical, Automotive and Communication sector’s original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Once developed it is expected that the fixed frequency resonant power converter will reduce design time for power solutions at SETEC.  As a consequence,  this will offer cost savings to SETEC and hence the customer, whilst assisting the customer to get from “concept to market faster”.
